Question:

Andy has proposed a teeny trip--two or three days--for our anniversary.
The anniversary is right about New Year's Eve...
He thought NYC--but then we said --not on New Year's Eve.
Y'all give me some ideas..
We thought skiing--but there is not snow yet...is there?
....
Ideas anyone???
Cool places you have been on short excursions??

NYC is magical during the holidays! As long as you stay away from the madness of Times Sq. Rick & I went to St Augustine FL once for 3 days in Jan., it is one of our fave places... spanish history & all...

Travis and I love these little cabins in Weaverville near Ashville, NC. There is a cabin we have stayed in several times called The Pine Cone. It is really cozy and not too pricey. She decorates it with a live Christmas tree and it has toasty gas logs. It has a great hot tub overlooking a beautiful view and is seconds from a Blue Ridge Parkway entrance. It is also close to the Blitmore, which is fun to go to even if you do not tour (delicious places to eat and wine tastings at the winery)! I can't remember the name of the company, but if you let me know, I'll ask Travis. The lady, Maryellen, is extremely sweet and helpful.

Bethany - I'm with you! St Augustine is one of favorite places. My grandparents live there so we have a good excuse to visit often.
There are great B&Bs all over NC and sometimes we just pick one in some random town and go. Just to have few days to ourselves where we don't feel the need to go and do and see...
But this year, we chose to hit Ikea for a shopping spree instead of a trip. We're weird that way!
Have fun whatever you do!!!

St. Augustine sounds like a fun idea..but we would have to go far away...

Last year we went to Durham..no that is going on two years ago now,and we stayed in the Marriot downtown--right near where we used to live..that was fun! :)

Spot on!
