Elena's teacher has hosted several reading groups during the second half of this year and she was been {so excited} to take part in reading the special books and writing about the different chapters.
This last one has been Charlotte's Web.
I must say that having her read this book has been an emotional journey for me.
{Isn't everything???} LOL.
We used to read that book in third grade, but with the way they RUSH everything these days some kids read it in second grade I suppose.
At some point I posted all about emotions and that movie.
The book, though--such a rite of passage that one is!
It is the first one that I read and I really just LOVED IT!
It was the first chapter book that I remember reading and just being swept away
to the farms and the fair and hanging out with a {spider}.
What a wonderful contribution to sweet things Mr. EB White made back in 1952! I wonder if he had any idea what he was doing as he wrote that story about a little girl and a pig, and a spider.
I just wonder....
I wonder how many little girls with stringy hair and giant grins with giant gangly teeth, who love to giggle and play outside with the water hose and jump on trampolines have spent quiet time enjoying this wonderful story?
The other picture is of Minnie--she has been put back together, {sort of}.
This happens to be one of Eva's most prized possessions, by the way.
It looks very cool this way, however, so I am not sure it will get glued back --ever??
ha!

On holiday confusion
In the Spring and in the Fall we have Turkey season. My dad hunts Turkeys--and he LOVES TO KILL ONE!! They are smart and wiley...you have to really track them down, and trick them, and call them over to you.
Andy and Victor have gone with him a couple times.
This afternoon--he finally shot one!
So we all went over to check it out.
Then we came home--seven o'clock--and made teacher appreciation bags.
We were writing, "thank you" on a tag for each bag.
Eva let me know that we were doing all this b/c it was Thanksgiving!
You know I was reading her mind, and I thought..hmmm...
Killing Turkeys..
Giving Thanks...
I see where she was coming from.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! LOL

a Nor easter...
Supposedly it officially Spring. We have not, however, had that consistent Spring weather that my mood so desperately seeks!
EEk People!
This post really wants to write itself in italics. That button just pushes itself.
So, it is just cool and windy here.
Maybe that is Spring...
Here in our little corner of the world, surrounded by water and swamp, when the North East Wind blows...it is cold-
Forget Mr. Jet Stream coming in from the west...who cares about that when the wind begins to churn from the North East?
The air is not actually that cool, but add in the wind?
eek!
Throw on your jeans and a sweatshirt.
Sandals and shorts are not happenin around here!
Here is what has been happening:
Picking strawberries, the photos of which are only in my memory storage.
Great berries!
Yummy recipes we made today
and more berries waiting...
they tempt us
and Spring is coming.
To Morgan:
I want more Disney updates,
2. The fence: I have heard from everyone that it works.
However, we have not set it up yet b/c neither Andy nor I want to do it.
We are really not in the mood and Prissy is still on the mend...I will keep you posted!
(Oh! I made a pun, and it was not intended, but I have noticed it.)
3. I want to actually talk to you on the phone, or see you one day!
The Spring NCSHLA convention was AWEsome! Next year you have to come.
Okay world.... have a great Saturday night!
We are having a cozy one here, as it is very cool and breezy out.

Against my better judgement...
I waited and waited to go and buy this wireless dog containment system...
Just late enough for Prissy to suffer one broken foot and us to pay one very large vet bill.
But isn't cast cute? Those are the sort of optimistic comments you get from the future vet second grade daughter,

Spring Cleaning
Here is a collection of socks that has emerged over the months...
Memories!
Whenever I am doing {anything} cleaning and organizing around the house I have little moments that make me pause.
This sock pile can really wrile me up,
today, before I tossed it tried to match them up, and then tossed the
misfits
I started to think--about all these little feet.
Some of these socks are teeny!
They are the survivor misfits.
These teeny ones have not fit anyone for a while, but I have
not found it in my heart to toss them.
So, today, I just decided to take a photo!
Take a photo in my mind.
And toss em!
Happy Memory making bloggy friends!

Staycation update:
So I left out our vet visit yesterday.
That is something I always dread doing.
ugh...
going to take the dog to the dr. (and then paying 300.00) yikes!
We seldom have the clams to dish out for this kind of thing..
BUT!! It is absolutely necessary. ABSOLUTELY.
So now they have their shots, they have their flea/tick prevention, and a shot to prevent heart worms...
They are both healthy.
One other update: My sister is coming to visit today and she is going to get her hair cut at my stylist's salon!! yay!!
This will be fun. :)
And!! Guess who has a book from childhood that is worth 50.00???
ME!
Eva has been carrying this around for days.
I found it in my closet--do y'all remember Jem? (I loved her!)
Well, this book has been hiding out in my closet and we brought it out.
This is Eva's (3)'s {chapter book}.
No more! When I saw that one was sold on Ebay for 50.00--I requested that she surrender my high dollar goods--to be stored on Dad's dresser. LOL--which is a hoot if you all remember my Andy's dresser post, you know why that is funny!

Staycation 2013
I have referred to vacations as, "changes of scenery" for some time now.
We do enjoy changing our environs when we get the chance, however, for
this week we decided to stay put.
Easter came relatively early this year.
It has been chilly.
We had lots to do, and I have been worn out!!
All of these factors led to our decision to just stay put! ya!
So here is what we have done:
We enjoyed last Saturday, bumming around --we went to an impromptu birthday party and played in the yard.
Sunday--we went to church and to my Mama and Daddy's for lunch in our pretties and then we rested--all afternoon, oh! and I went to the Grocery store
Monday--Andy slept at his mom's and I cleaned out Elena's closet (Eva's closet too). We also cleaned out the toy drawers under their bed, AND we went to Greenville for a little shopping--oh and Eva got her ears pierced!! :) This was a fun trip to Greenville--frozen yogurt, Ch!kfileigh, and Book store--Perfection! :)
Tuesday--we had to go to the Dr. first thing!! We needed an allergy shot and to have Elena's funky ear issue checked. --Check! Check!
Then we had lunch at Grandma's and then we went running more errands for a new adventure that I am going to undertake this Summer. (let's just say we were doing office kinds of things). We went out to eat Tues. night b/c Andy woke up and he wanted to see some people when he finished hibernating. We also finished paying for a piece of artwork that I have been paying for for several months--exciting!! We got to hang it when we got home from eating.
Wednesday--We woke up late, we went to eat with my Mom and my Aunt for lunch, then we played, then I went running more {errands} for my {project}. Last night I just watched lots of junk TV--there has been a lot of junk TV this week!
Thursday--today we woke up late, we watched junk TV, and then we went to watch the 3D version of the Croods--So cute!! I have always loved to think about what the cave people thought about. Apparently someone at the Hollywood movie factory does too. :) Today I have enjoyed a marathon of this Tabatha show on Bravo!! OMG--she is so fun to watch--she overhauls salons across the country. People are so entertaining!
Somewhere in there I cleaned out and organized our {important papers} file box. My own version of organizing it, vamos.
Tomorrow I have the goal of cleaning out Victor's room--his toys need to be looked over, reconsidered, and thinned out considerably. ;).
We have had a blast doing all this!
My children have not complained once about not having anything to do. We always run, and run, and this week we got to stroll a bit.
Did I mention the marathon of that Tabatha show?? What a treat!
Om...and I also want to peak at the clothes in the attic that are Springy--Venga dama primavera!! We are needed the warmth around here, desperately! (does that sound too desperate?) LOL!
