Today was a big day!

Some days are just big ones!
We had two well visits-which meant SIX shots.
Then we went to register two little girls for kindergarten which meant filling out TWENTY pieces paper--with the same FIVE bits of information over and over again. :)
SWEET!
We came home with a stash of SEVEN new books (when you live in an "impoverished" area, they give you books every where you go. :) No complaints here...my children love it!
Oh, we had to eat three ice cream cones to comfort the traumatized.

I snuck in countless kisses today!
Being a mama is the BEST!

We interrupt this program...

to let you know that lightning is striking!!!!! (fill up the page with exclamation marks!!!)
I am missing the amazing race b/c there is a thunderstorm two counties away!
Now, since all the TV station have the fancy dopplers...when it is lightning they have to show the ACTUAL STRIKES on tv.
Can't we look out the window?
Aren't the warning scrolls enough?
I mean--y'all weather people check all those dopplers and then MAKE THE WARNING SCROLL ACCROSS THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN SO I CAN WATCH MY FAVORITE SHOW!!

This cracks Andy up--that the tv people do this, and that it makes me so mad.
He just rubs it in and in and in..."oh, look, sweetie, there is another hook echo! Now they are telling about the hail core, susan, come look"
ARGhhh!!!

The Bluebirds

So, about a month ago-right before Easter--when I was sitting at my computer I kept seeing this bluebird out on the tree.
He was always out there playing --scouting out a place to live (this was my story for him).
Then, I remembered! We HAVE a bluebird house in the attic! :)--Yippie!
I felt all kinds of excitement--and a rush--call it nesting--to get that house out on the tree!
I felt like a realtor for birds.
I really needed for this bird to have a piece of property on my big tree outside.
So, I told Andy, "please go up and get the bluebird house out of the attic and hang it up for me, if you do this bluebird will pick our yard to live in"
"Andy, we really need to get that bluebird house up before the daddy bluebird picks another yard"
"Andy, I {really wish} you would {please} hang that bluebird house up"

Andy did not hang up the house.
I kept seeing the bird.
Finally, I said this, "Andy--I am going to get that bluebird house out of the attic."
"Do you reckon I am going to need a hammer or a drill to get the house on the tree?" "Where is the ladder Andy?" "Can you get your drill out, please?" "I am going to hang this up."
Andy:
"oh, just give it here...i'll do it" {Yippie!}
So that was on a Saturday.
Then next day, on Sunday, Elena and I were in the yard, and she spotted the Mama bluebird going in and out of the house.
Right now, I am checking out the little hole, and i can see something moving around in there--even from inside the house at my computer.
I would never DARE go near it..I am too scared I will scare the sweet little birds.
Ojala que tengan bebes! :)
You know mother nature is a cruel lady most of the time--when I am watching, at least.;).

Happy Saturday
Here are a couple circus pictures...

The man in this picture with Victor had the sweetest face. He was one of the ones I wondered about. He took special care to give Victor the horse he wanted and to walk Victor back over to me...so sweet! Look at his sweet face!

Here is Eva Lou! :)
She is wanting to stand up all by herself. She is pretty steady on her feet, too! When I look at her it makes me think....{I could have two more} But not REALLY! :)
B/c then I see a picture of myself and think--I HAVE 20 MORE POUNDS TO LOSE FROM ALL OF THIS BABY HAVING.
It is funny to me that when I am losing weight, and i feel {hungry} it makes me think I look {thin}. Now, while it is no lie that I look thin{ner}--I am, by no means, where I should be hee hee...It will come. ;).

Ay, la musica! :)

A ver si se pone esta cancion...
This is the song we heard on the way home from our music lesson today.
My children are actually taking Violin BUT--I call it music lesson.
It is so fun (fun is not really the word, though--something like priceless would be the word)!!
I love our teacher! Love might not be the word either...something like, "treasure" might be the word.
So, my two oldest children and I jammed out to this song after our wonderful music lesson in which I played Twinkle Twinkle perfectly today! :)

It is only a matter of time before I get a violin. I am thinking birthday, or mother's day.
The music teacher is one of my favorite people I have ever met...and this is no exaggeration.

Enjoy!

ay que circus!

We just went to the circus!
It was right here in the l dubs.
Can you believe it?
I could not!
Andy and I took E. to the circus in G-boro one time --the experience sucked.
We were in a huge arena (which I know better than to put myself in) and we sat under a big concrete block ohhh..I'd say a quarter mile from the actual stuff.
Not tonight, baby!
This was a country circus under a big a$$ tent...ooohh yeah.
They had a clown car that fell apart, a bunch of scrappy dogs that did tricks to the tune....guess...just guess. I bet y'all got the tune right.
They had zebras, elephants, camels, llamas, tigers, trapeze...oh, and three people who rode dirtbikes in a big metal ball, and...let's not forget the human cannon ball.
WE sat on teeny bleachers.
We hollered out when we wanted something that was for sale.
We smelled grass (which was under our feet) and animal doo doo.

It was soooo fun!
Kids were free.
Adults 17.00.
The whole time we watched all I could think about was the people in the circus.
They were all Mexican {looking}. I wondered if they were family. I wondered if they were nice to the animals. I wondered if they get drunk at night. I wondered all kinds of stuff. I wondered about them traveling...do they do this all the time?
Do they like putting on a circus? It was cool to watch the people put up and take down the sets as the circus was being performed.

Andy was wondering the same stuff...he told me afterwards.

I took pictures...you will see them tomorrow.
Tip: If the Circus comes to a dinky town near you, and it is called the Cole Bros. Circus--the world's largest under the big top...GO!

perfect day

We'll start with last night.
Eva went to bed sort of sick. Fussy. Then at 1:45 she woke up. She was awake and NEEDED HER MAMA {AND DADDY} until 4:00.
When she woke up I knew that I would be taking her to the doctor and I would be staying home with her today.
No doubt about it. When a baby is that sick, the baby stays home with mama. :)
Soon after taking her to the doctor I discovered how much I NEEDED THIS SICK DAY!
I needed to just stay at home. I washed clothes...but that is relaxing to me when that I all I have to do..that and nurse a sleepy feverish baby.
Ahhh...
I also watched the whole View in peace. No interruptions. Sitting on the couch..just me and the ladies of the view.
Then, I accomplished something I had been dreading for about a year now. I called the saab 1-800 number to check the status of the manufacturer's warranty on my car.
I have zero faith in corporate america. I think all warranties and guarantees are lies. So little things are going wrong in the car, and i want them fixed.
This task has been hovering on my worry radar for months now.--ever since the driver side window started doing something strange.
So, today I called. The people were soooo nice, turns out MY WARRANTY WAS REGISTERED UNDER MY NAME. turns out THEY ARE STILL MAKING SAABS AND SAAB PARTS. turns out I CAN GET ALL THE LITTLE STUFF FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. It is absolutely thrilling to me. Besides that, the guy on the phone told me that he was not laughing at me, "just something i said was cute". Even that made me happy! :)
Yippie!
So my car is going to get its little tune up. I am still {completely and utterly in love with my car, btw}
If I could link back--I would link back to the post about when I first got my car.
Since then it has been hit with a toy hoe.
Backed over a tricycle.
Been loaded down with too long 2X6s when Andy did not want to go and get the truck.
I backed up one day in a sketchy yard delivering meals on wheels and the passenger door was ajar--the door just about flew off..so now the door bolt is loose and the door creaks.
....
anyway...back to perfect day.
It was nice to relax and to get this dreaded little series of phone calls over with.

Now, I am off to go to bed.
Eva is recovering nicely now that she got her antibiotics to help fight off the ear infections in both ears!!

whew...

Pictures of a weekend!
On Saturday morning V.was giving me the sweetest kisses.... He said, "mama, you need to take a picture of this.." So I did! :)
On Saturday I had another CAbi party. It was SO FUN!! Lots of women. Lots of wine. Great snacks (which I should have eaten) From 2:00 until 5:30 we ate, tried on clothes, talked and drank wine. I did a lot of talking and drinking..then when all my guests were gone...and only two (my sister and my friend shannon) remained...I GOT SO SICK!! Wine and no food and lots of excitement all added up to a stomach disaster!! not a good idea!! But we had a bunch of fun at the party. :).
I think everyone got some cute clothes.
Today, was recovery day. My children stayed off, along with Andy, at his mom's house.
This is crazy, but I missed them all night, and I could not sleep.
So today all day long I was in a fog--which did not matter b/c (as the picture of E. shows--we sat in the grass in sunshine all day and daydreamed.
Then for supper I made my favorite meal (minus the blue box mac n cheese) that i have been craving FOREVER. Salmon cakes, black beans and a tomato. We also needed some biscuits and molasses...but I am feeling good after eating that! :)
Now I have to go to bed...whew...weekends can wear you out!
Let's see what order these pictures put themselves up here in...hmmmm... a ver...

does anyone else think this is strange?

i was just on facebook and my family picture is up there from
the other week when we had our pics. taken.
i hate the picture.
the photographer posts all of his material to f*book.
so then SOMEONE ELSE not even the photographer put it up on that
constant stream of crap that pops up--whatever it is called--
she put my photo up there.
then someone i barely know commented on it.
none of it was mean.
the girl who did it is SO SWEET!
i just wonder what would make someone do this???

is this strange to anyone else?
or is it only {strange} to me b/c i hate the picture
and i wish it were not on facebook in the first place?
not even in the photographers little facebook spot???

facebook is so strange....maybe i will just exit it, and then i will never know that people are commenting on the open forum bulletin board about pictures of me...

hmm...

I hardly tested your loyalty ;)

I'm back already!
Here are a couple more pictures...the sleeping baby and bluebird pictures.

That picture of Eva sleeping is so sweet to me! The other morning when she woke up for her morning nurse nurse at 6:00 she was still sleepy--she just zonked out for another 45 minutes or so!
Andy and I just ooohed and ahhhhed over her....a sleeping baby is just so darn sweet!

Some Pictures

You know, it is always nice to check into a friend's blog and see pictures!
I have not posted as many as I would like to have lately, so here goes! :)
These are from our Easter vacation at the beach:
The beach picture that does not actually look like the ocean...isn't.
It's the sound behind Jockey's Ridge.
It is the perfect place to take children to swim and play. :)
Enjoy!
I am off to watch survivor...stay tuned for blue birds, and sleeping baby pictures!
oh, and have a great weekend.

This is a big no no BUT

I think we are going to have to let Victor wear a speedo this summer!
He gets a rash in between his little legs--not b/c they are fat (that was why I got that when I was little) but b/c the bathing suit gets wet and sandy and rubs a rash on him.
Victor does not take this well, and I do not blame him!
It hurts like h#ll to have a burning rash b/t the legs and still have to run around.
So, since his legs are skinny, if he had a speedo he could play and play and not worry about the rash.

What do y'all think?
..
I am thinking this is going to happen...regardless, really of what anyone thinks.

I am off to search for little boys' speedos...woo hoo--now this is something I trully thought I would never do. ;)

a poem that i love (thanks again, bethany)

BLOOD AND MILK
by Sharlee Mullins Glenn
I dreamed of Oxford . . .
(spires, a thousand spires, endless lectures, musty halls
a solitary self in a Bodleian expanse
A good life my dear Wormwood. An orderly life.)
then awakened to laundry
and things to be wiped
countertops, noses, bottoms)
How did this happen? And when, exactly?
Time flows, it flows, it flows
and there are choices to be made:
left or right?
paper or plastic?
blood or milk?
There's freedom in the bleeding;
bondage in the milk—do not be deceived.
Ah, but it's an empty freedom; a holy bondage,
A sweet and holy bondage.
Five times I chose the chains, those tender chains,
(though once will bind you just as well!)
and checked the crimson flow.
Suckled while dreaming of Trinity Term
but awakened, always awakened, to the laundry
and to that small and cherished captor at my breast.

By: ? (I have to look this up.) But I will add it. Bethany did not write this, nor did I--and hay que give the credit where credit is due! :)
HA! I looked up the poet's name--and it was already up there! Right under the title.
I love this poem!
We are all currently being attacked by either a bad cold or the swarm and mountain clouds of pollen that are floating in the air.
Everyone in my house has a nose that runs like a spigot!
Gross.
We should be outside playing...but I am inside cleaning up.
Well, attempting to clean...while holding a baby who only wants to be held right now.
Yes. She is in my lap while I am typing this!

Baby Eva says, Hello!

We have been at the beach...

We left on Sunday afternoon, and we came back this morning.
whew...vacations wear me out.
It is sort of hard to explain, but anyone out there who 1.takes their children on vacations (believe it or not, some do not) 2.plays with your children while on vacation...will understand that you can actually come back from the vacation tireder than you were when you left to go on vacation!
For sure. :)

Pictures will come, but right now, I am off to sleep in my bed.
I love to sleep in my own bed.
SO DOES EVA! :)
That is why i am so tired.

here's the other one

one day andy and i were laughing at this song.
these two are singing in desperation...BUT they are singing the same sentiment.
we said, "how handy that there are mutual feelings..."
sounds like things are going to work themselves out.

we all like this song together too. :)

{the thinking ones} continued...

my little thinker loves music! :)
the other day she said to me from the backseat, "mama, listening to music really makes me think about life, and what is going to happen."
we always (almost) listen to old country music
that is just what happens to happen--yes. my sister picks on me about this.
yes. it is probably something to pick on..but {whatever}
here is one of the songs that the radio station track plays over and over..
and that we love. :)

there is another one...
about it's one oclock in the morning or something..
I'll post that one too.
I know this is a boring video...but this is the first one i saw.
hey, it's got the words! :)

At the playdate....

Yesterday at the playdate in the yard of a friend another mother/friend brought her
two children and one of them was a one year old little girl in the CUTEST little
white outfit with some little adornment of some sort (I do not have an eye for details)--we'll say flowers.
The outfit was mostly white.
The one year old was mostly eating and drooling and TRYING to walk on the grass and
the blanket.
So after a few bites of Goldfish the mother said, "oh no! ___, you got goldfish on this outfit!--I'll have a time getting that out..I was trying to get through this day with only one outfit for you..."

Ugghh...My answer {in my mind} was "ughh..who in the hell puts a one year old in an outfit that should not stain itself {hee hee} to come to a playdate in a yard and drool and eat goldfish?"

I cannot understand this..
I guess that is why my children basically always run around like rag-a-muffins.
When they are old enough to care about--manchas/stains, clean mouths (I do wipe them off occasionally--but not to the point of chapping, vamos), untangled perfect hair--then they will keep it themselves.

I keep myself, and they watch--comb my hair/put on makeup/cut my nails..etc.
Do I battle with them about this? --No

This is an interesting {and probably pill-needing} mentality
Let me dress this little creature in expensive/perfect clothes and then yell at it and complain all day the the clothes get dirty..or they get their clothes dirty..or
que se manche la ropa..

Now there is irony in our house...V. man hates to be bothered about these things--and he is the one who cares about not having manchas etc.
E. Does not care too much--but you could wipe her face all day and she would never say a word...funny, no?

Have a happy saturday!
We are off to have a family portrait made--With all our nails cut, hair washed, neat clothes on (of course v. man will wear his too little dollar general lightning mcqueen crocs)--then we will take them off and go get mancha(ed).

Why take the blame? {updated}

....When you can give the blame to inanimate objects or situations!

This is one aspect of Spanish that is both very interesting to me (how it arose linguistically) and that I LOVE.

When one speaks Spanish and needs to describe an event in which something happens and there is an object--the object can take the action --often in situations which in Enlgish we would be placing blame or guilt.

Here are some good examples:
I dropped this--the hat or whatever.
Se me cayó.
Literal translation: It fell itself {to} me.

I forgot.
Se me olvidó.
Literal translation: It forgot itself to me.

I broke it.
Se me rompió.
Literal translation: It broke itself to me.

Now, the {to me} part is the best way I can explain it.
That might be wrong, actually--but it is how I have organized it in my head.

Now, some people would have a really hard time with this, b/c for some people any unfortunate event must really, truly have someone to blame. My dad is one of these people.
Nothing ever just breaks--b/c it is old, for example. SOMEONE BROKE IT!!
I think he must feel this way b/c he is always the one that fixes everything.
It is funny to me that in Spanish you just inherently (b/c it is built into the language) blame the thing.
So there!

Have a great Thursday. :)

I just thought of a funny one...
the Senate could say the Health care bill...
"Se nos aprobo!"
It passed itself to us! :)
HA--Maybe that would make people stop annoying the h3ll out of me with the stupid cr@p they put on faceb00k. :) (that was for you Bethany)

Spot on!

Spot is our family's chihuahua.  He is what we call, "an evil dictator/stuffed animal come to life".  Sometimes, after he has ...
